Traditional Scottish Tablet Recipe & Cook With Me! :)
Hey guys :) Today I’m making traditional Scottish tablet!
Welcome back to What’s for tea….If this is your first time stopping by…Hello and welcome…. I hope you’re all having a wonderful day!
Today I’m making Traditional Scottish Tablet.
The only thing I can compare this to would be fudge but unlike fudge it’s not chewy and quite crumbly.
Kids love this and it’s extremely sweet! But you would usually just have wee chunk and not handfuls of the stuff….or you’d be absolutely vibrating!
So this is what you’re going to need if you want to give it a go….
Shopping list –
900g (2 lb) caster sugar
1 tin of condensed milk (around 370g)
1 teaspoon of vanilla essence/extract
1/4 pint (150ml) whole (full fat) milk
125g (4 1/2 oz) unsalted butter
1. In a large deep pot place all ingredients except vanilla over medium heat until all melts, stirring frequently. Simmer gently for 40 minutes stirring now and again.
2. Bring to boil, add vanilla, remove from the heat stirring all the time; be careful.
3. Stand Mix on Medium or Electric whisk for 5 minutes; mixture will thicken.
4. Spread mixture in a flat tray leave to cool for at least 1 hour. Cut into squares and enjoy.
